Christine "Stientje" VanAlphen, a former Western Michigan University staff member, died April 18 in Kalamazoo. She was 85.
VanAlphen joined the WMU staff in 1973 and retired in 1990 as a first cook in Dining Services after 16-1/2 years of service to the University. She was a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels for more than 25 years and a member of Bethany Reformed Church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick St., in Kalamazoo. A luncheon in the church social hall will follow the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Kalamazoo or the National Parkinson's Foundation.
