WMU offices closed for Independence Day

KALAMAZOO--Except for essential and emergency services, Western Michigan University offices will be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of U.S. Independence Day.

Listed below are Independence Day holiday hours for selected University offices and services. In most cases, offices are closed July 4, and open during normal summer hours the remainder of the week. Faculty, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open.

Admissions office is closed Saturday through Monday, July 2-4.

Bernhard Center and all Bronco Mall stores are closed Saturday through Monday, July 2-4.

Bernhard Center computer lab closes at 5 p.m. Friday, July 1, and reopens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.

North Dormitory Road, from Gilkison Avenue to Lot 48 at Ellsworth Hall, will be closed for repairs Friday through Monday, July 1-4.

Office of Information Technology Help Desk closes at 5 p.m. Friday, July 1, and reopens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, closes at 5 p.m. Friday, July 1, and reopens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

Student Recreation Center is open reduced hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, July 1, and closed Saturday through Monday, July 2-4. The recreation center resumes normal summer hours at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.

Unified Clinics are closed Saturday through Monday, July 2-4.

University Computing Center lab closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, for renovations, and reopens at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15.

Waldo Library is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, July 1; open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 2; and closed Sunday and Monday, July 3-4. The library resumes normal summer hours at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.

To reduce energy costs while the University is closed, heating and cooling systems in all office and classroom buildings controlled by the WMU Building Energy Management System will be in holiday mode. Air handlers will not run during this time, unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not normally go into night setback mode will not go into holiday mode.
