KALAMAZOO--Acting at its Sept. 28 meeting, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees approved a bylaw change to the WMU Foundation that would specifically empower that organization to "accept, hold and manage" donations for the University's new privately funded School of Medicine.
The WMU Foundation is a charitable nonprofit corporation that receives all gifts to Western Michigan University. The new bylaw language extends that purpose to "providing support for the objectives, goals and mission of the Western Michigan University School of Medicine." The bylaw change must also be approved by the WMU Foundation Board of Directors.
