Stephen Abrokwah, a WMU doctoral student in applied economics from Ghana, is one of 31 students nationwide who received a $3,000 Actuarial Foundation Actuarial Diversity Scholarship.
The nonprofit foundation promotes diversity through an annual scholarship program for African-American, Hispanic and Native-American students. The award recognizes and encourages academic achievements of full-time undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree that may lead to a career in the actuarial profession.
Abrokwah also was selected for one of 17 scholarships awarded nationwide from the International Association of Black Actuaries for 2011-12. IABA provides annual scholarships at the undergraduate and graduate levels to encourage and promote career development, civic growth and achievement of African-American actuaries.
