KALAMAZOO--Approval of a comprehensive three-year strategic plan to guide Western Michigan University tops the items under consideration by WMU's Board of Trustees when it meets Thursday, Dec. 8.

Meeting at 11:15 a.m. in Room 157 of the Bernhard Center, the board will consider its approval for the strategic plan that was developed over a 10-month period by the University Strategic Planning Committee, with input from faculty and staff campuswide. WMU President John M. Dunn will recommend that the board approve and accept the plan developed.

Also on the agenda is a recommendation to authorize the administration to implement a three-year contract with the University's Police Officers Association. The contract, as negotiated, calls for no salary increase during the 2011-12 year; 1 percent increases in July 2012, January 2013 and July 2013; and a 1.5 percent increase in January 2014. The agreement includes a one-time supplemental health care payment for POA members. The contract would run through June 30, 2014.

The board will also consider a routine recommendation regarding Sangren Hall and the State Building Authority. In addition, trustees will hear and be asked to consent to reports covering personnel moves, receipt of gifts and grants, academic program changes, a use agreement for Spindler Hall and meeting dates for 2012.
