Music Minors
The School of Music at Western Michigan University offers minors in general music, multimedia arts technology, and jazz studies.
The minor in music is offered for non-music major students who have a background in music and wish to extend their experience with music.
The minor in multimedia arts technology is available to both music majors and non-majors who wish to explore audio engineering and music technology.
The minor in jazz studies is available to both music majors and non-majors and offers performance experience and coursework in jazz theory and history.
All minors have 15 credits of coursework. Students must secure formal approval from the undergraduate advisor in the School of Music prior to registration for the final six hours of music coursework that will apply to the minor. This minor does not lead to teaching certification. An audition is not required.
