Lynda Root

2020 Staff Excellence Award Recipient

Lynda Root is an administrative assistant II in the Department of Education, Leadership, Research and Technology (ELRT). She handles all the scheduling, student hiring, staff payroll, book orders, ordering of supplies, contacts and provides information to part-time faculty and so much more all with enhanced workflows and high levels of communication.

She is the backbone of the ELRT office and always keeps things running smoothly. She goes above and beyond her expected duties to ensure that everything is done and done correctly, oftentimes anticipating what needs to be done before it is even asked of her. Her door is always open and she accomplishes everything with a sense of selflessness, gratitude and helpfulness. Everyone knows they can count on her for help with anything that needs to be done, and if she doesn’t know how to do something already, she will find a way to figure it out. She has the respect and trust of all the faculty, staff and students in the department and is especially supportive and welcoming to those whom are new to the department. She always volunteers to help with celebrations and special activities like the beginning of the year cook out demonstrating leadership and teamwork that creates a positive environment not just within the department, but within the whole college.
