    2020 Doctoral Rising Star Award Recipient

    Alycia Sterenberg is doctoral student in the Evaluation, Measurement and Research program, a graduate assistant on the federally funded grant for the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT), and the lab manager for the Brain Research and Interdisciplinary Neurosciences (BRAIN) Lab.

With a strong background in music therapy, she stands out among graduate students with having 14 peer-reviewed presentations at national and international conferences and has four publications in various stages of submission in top-tier journals and is the recipient of several travel and research grants. She is an active member of the CEHD Graduate Student Research and Scholarship Group (GSRSG) and partnered with the CEHD this year to create the first graduate student accountability writing group which meets for three-hour writing intensives several times each month. She is passionate about and dedicated to each of her endeavors.

Her ability to manage large projects, analyze and synthesize data, and communicate with a range of individuals in a positive way enhances any work she is a part of. She is recognized as one of the top students in her program and provides an inspiring example to other students through the quality of her work and dedication to her studies. She is sought out for her knowledge and always makes time to help others succeed in their work.

"I am completely honored and humbled to receive this award. Thank you to the College of Education and Human Development Awards Committee for this tremendous honor. Thank you also to all those who nominated me for this award including those in the ELRT department and my peers who I look up to. A very special thank you to Dr. June Gothberg for both nominating me for this award and providing me the opportunity to work alongside her and continuously learn from her these past few years. Thank you, June, for your incredible support and always seeing and fueling my passion for research. I am certainly inspired by you daily to be the change I wish to see in my field and in the world.
