Richard Hartman

Richard Hartman holds Bachelor of Science in Paper Science and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Western Michigan University. He also has a Master of Science and PhD from Institute of Paper Science and Technology.

Dr. Hartman is currently the Chief Operating Officer for New-Indy Containerboard LLC. In this role, Rick has responsibility for the day-to-day business operations as well as evaluating opportunities for growth - both organic and through acquisition. The company is made up of four mills (three recycled containerboard mills and one integrated kraft pulp and paper mill), as well as converting/box plants, a distribution center, a digital graphic production center, and a nationwide recycling business.

Prior to this position, Rick worked for International Paper Company, Simpson Paper Company, James River Corporation, and Dow Chemical. Rick has broad experience in manufacturing industry leadership positions. Research and development, process control, product development, marketing, plant management, capital project management, and overall business leadership have been part of his background. He has considerable experience in establishing joint development agreements with customers for award-winning achievements. He enjoys leading operations with the overall goal of organization improvement.

Rick and his wife Lynn have been married over 35 years. They have a daughter and a son and recently added a grandson to their family in February of 2020.

Dr. Hartman's interests include watching and playing sports of all kinds, photography and gardening.
