2025 Corporate Engagement Hockey Tailgate

Western Michigan University partners, alumni, and friends came together in late February to celebrate Bronco spirit at the 2nd Annual WMU Hockey Tailgate—a festive and milestone-filled evening that marked an unforgettable moment in university history.

Held in the President's Suite at Waldo Stadium, the event brought together community and corporate supporters to cheer on the Broncos and network together. Attendees were treated to a powerful lineup of speakers and exclusive updates from university leadership, including a “State of the University” address from WMU President Edward Montgomery and insights on the presidential search process from Trustee Kara Wood.

In a momentous highlight of the evening, the Bronco Hockey team clinched its first-ever National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) regular season championship, proudly bringing home the Penrose Cup—a historic achievement that added energy and pride to an already electric atmosphere.

Guests also had the opportunity to preview renderings of the new event arena, unveiled by Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dan Bartholomae, offering a glimpse into WMU’s future as a hub for sports and community gatherings.
