The Department of Gender and Women's Studies at Western Michigan University invites applications for the tenure-track position of assistant professor of gender and women's studies.
Major responsibilities
Duties include teaching undergraduate courses during fall and spring semesters; pursuing scholarly research; and contributing to student, staff and program development.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in gender and women's studies or related field, completed or expected by June 2015. Experience teaching gender and women's studies courses required. Demonstrated potential for teaching and research focused on women and communities of color. Applicants whose work focuses on African Americans are strongly encouraged to apply.

Department of Gender and Women's Studies
A freestanding, interdisciplinary department within the College of Arts and Sciences, The Department of Gender and Women's Studies makes significant contributions to WMU's emphasis on diversity, inclusion and social justice. The program has six board-appointed faculty members with full appointments in the Department of Gender and Women's Studies and over 40 joint-appointed faculty members with homes in other departments. Our department offers a popular undergraduate major and minor; we also contribute numerous courses to the University's General Education curriculum.
Salary
$60,000 to $65,000, plus generous benefits
