Health Administration
Western Michigan University's Health Administration program prepares students to work successfully in health-related environments in managerial and administrative roles. This cross-disciplinary program includes coursework in the College of Health and Human Services and the Haworth College of Business. Topic areas include the U.S. health care system, population and community health, cultural competence and diversity, organizational development and organizational behavior theory, management in health organizations, operations assessment and improvement, management of human resources and health professionals, information systems management and assessment, healthcare law, governance, health policy, leadership, statistical analysis and application to decision making, health economics, post-acute care, healthcare marketing, financial analysis and management, ethics in business and clinical decision-making, strategy formulation and implementation, and quality assessment for patient care improvement.
This program will provide you with:
- A minor in general business along with your HA major
- Hands-on experience in a health organization during your internship
As a health administration student at Western, you will be required to complete a semester-long internship in a health administration setting. The internship will allow you to apply the information learned in your courses and provide you with professional experience that will help you transition from the classroom to the field. The internship is required of all students in the Health Administration program.
