Our Services

The following services are available through the Faster Program:

Child, adult, and family trauma (or family conflict) assessment

Assessments include neurodevelopmental testing and psychosocial interviewing for each member of the family. Sometimes parent-child interactions will be observed as well. Reports summarizing the results and giving recommendations are provided for each member of the family that was assessed.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder evaluations

FASD evaluations are provided for most of the children that we see as part of the assessment. We can also provide an FASD evaluation without a trauma assessment. Dr. Mark Sloane, a pediatrician, provides the FASD evaluations.

Advocacy for the needs of children and families

For many of the families that we assess, we also offer advocacy, including meeting with schools, therapists, caseworkers, etc. to advocate for the needs of children and families.

Parent training and/or group training utilizing Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) developed by the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development

We offer group classes on the Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), developed by the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development. TBRI is an evidence-based intervention developed initially for children with trauma backgrounds. The "intervention," or way of parenting, is helpful for children of all backgrounds, however.

Medication consultations

We offer medication consultations for children. Dr. Mark Sloane will review the child's history with a caregiver and offer medication recommendations in a letter that can then be given to the child's primary care provider or psychiatrist.

Trainings on trauma-informed care

We provide trainings on trauma-informed care, resiliency, and secondary traumatic stress for professionals.
