In alliance with our Florida partners like Florida SouthWestern State College and it's Charlotte Campus in Punta Gorda, WMU will provide undergraduate and graduate degree programs that focus on the area’s needs. Location matters for students across demographics. Our mission for WMU is to reach beyond Kalamazoo, through innovation, access and outreach. By leading innovation through community engagement and the delivery of responsive contemporary programming, WMU-Punta Gorda seeks to identify, develop, and provide access to learner-centered pathways for diverse populations in Florida.

    Western Michigan University’s College of Aviation will highlight its aviation programs being offered in Florida and a virtual reality experience during the world’s largest aviation event, the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture, July 24–30. The Oshkosh, Wisconsin, event attracts more than 500,000 people each year.

    The Enterprise Charlotte Foundation has awarded nearly $18,000 to WMU for a study its scientists are doing aimed at improving the ability to forecast algae blooms along the Charlotte County, Florida, coastline and its northern and southern extensions.
