Volunteers holding morale-boosting signs to cheer on marathon runners.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University is seeking volunteers to help host several campus water and aid stations and excitement zones for runners participating in the Kalamazoo Marathon Sunday, May 5.

No experience is necessary, and the entire WMU community is encouraged to participate, including students, faculty and staff members, alumni, friends and fans. The two-hour volunteer opportunity will begin at 7:30 a.m. and conclude around 9:30 a.m.

Sign up online to volunteer.

WMU volunteers will provide refreshments and other aid to runners via a station located near the WMU Ticket Box Office adjacent to Waldo Stadium, or cheer on runners at excitement zones throughout campus. WMU student organizations, departments and offices are welcome to sign up to host an excitement zone with or without a theme. All volunteers will receive a complimentary WMU T-shirt to wear on race day.

Now in its ninth year, the Kalamazoo Marathon attracts thousands of runners from all over the United States.
