Alumna and Malaysian civil servant makes history with appointment
Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin, BBA ’92, made history by becoming the first woman director-general of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department. Her appointment took effect on Sept. 25 and was announced by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali in a statement.
“I believe that with her experience and credibility, Anis Rizana is able to lead an agency that is very important in collecting revenue for the government,” he says.
Mohd Zainudin, formerly the finance ministry deputy secretary-general of treasury, has extensive experience in various fields including investment, import-export, research and policy development, economics, management and finance.
She has been with the Malaysian civil service for 29 years, with her first position being assistant secretary at the finance division of the Ministry of Finance in 1994.
Along with her degree from Western in finance, she holds an MBA from Universiti Putra Malaysia. ■
