General summary

Develops, implements, manages, and evaluates recruitment and outreach activities, strategies and programs to recruit, admit and enroll community college transfer students.

Major duties

  • Manages all transfer student recruiting aspects, including planning events at community colleges. Participates in public relations, outreach, and recruiting events.
  • Develops programming to help transfer students transition to the University.
  • Advises both enrolled and prospective students on University academic requirements for admission, general education, majors, and minors. Explains graduation requirements to students and provides information about course prerequisites, alternatives, and equivalents. Advises students on career choices and opportunities.
  • Teaches a community college and University course for dual-enrolled students at partner community colleges.
  • Develops systems to collect and analyze data about transfer students.
  • Consults with community college constituents on the transferability of courses. Creates and maintains accurate and concise community college and University transfer guides for all community colleges in Michigan.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Required other

  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desired education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
