General summary

Oversees the research, prospect management and prospect data analysis functions in order to guide fundraising efforts for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Major duties

  • Identifies major gift donors and assigns wealth and affinity ratings. Oversees database screenings by outside vendors and manages analysis of returned data.
  • Oversees development research program, including research for development staff to ensure fundraisers receive timely, accurate and complete information needed to cultivate prospects. Establishes guidelines for quality control of research products and performance goals for researchers. Supervises the creation of profiles and biographies.
  • Oversees the prospect management system in collaboration with advancement services, including integration of donor research and contact data in order to ensure that donor prospects are managed effectively and moved through phases of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Manages pipeline data. Develops and oversees reports and tracking methods. Monitors the progress of gift officers and engagement managers with their prospect portfolios and maintain contact history. Assists gift officers and engagement managers in planning strategies and priorities.
  • Develops unit goals, policies and procedures by providing input to the management team regarding support of overall advancement plans and fundraising activities.
  • Supervises and evaluates staff and student employees.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
