General summary

Responsible for the oversight, management, and direction of University accounting and treasury functions, policies, and reporting of financial data as well as its operational units.

Major duties

  • Responsible for the oversight and direction of the operational units and subordinate departments related to financial and operational services for the central operations of the University.
  • Leads, manages, and supervises all direct reports. Resolves personnel and operational issues.
  • Responsible for the University’s annual audit and preparation of the audited financial statements as well as approving various financial statements and analyses.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the University's accounting policies and procedures to assure adherence to Governmental Accounting Standards Board, Generally Accepted Accounting principles, Federal Grant, Internal Revenue Services and Payment Card industry standards.
  • Manages University debt program, including negotiating and executing debt agreements and monitoring and enforcing debt terms. Communications with investment bankers, bond advisors, and bond counsel. Develops internal funding streams.
  • Directs the functional leaders in large scale enterprise system software implementations. Establishes long-term goals for e-commerce and financial applications.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Ten years’ experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Technical and operational experience in strategic management of several large and diverse departments supporting an entire organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of policies of Governmental Accounting Standards Board, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Financial Accounting Standard Board and Federal Grants.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
