General summary

Oversees segment of Multicultural Affairs for Students, including support for student participants and supervision of student employees in order to accomplish objectives. Provides leadership and budgetary accountability, and reports outcomes to stakeholders.

Major duties

  • Develops, plans, and implements programs and activities for target populations. Prepares the mission, vision, goals and objectives for submission to the funding agency. Develops and implements policies and procedures.
  • Serves as program liaison to provide services to maximum number of students through identifying best practices, promoting consistent student success models, and working toward an organizational peer mentoring culture. Collaborates with other University departments to pool resources and maximize outcomes.
  • Manages program budget and prepares financial reports. Ensures financial and budgetary accountability with the department, leadership staff, the University, funding agency and applicable laws. Determines financial decisions that impact the program.
  • Coordinates and oversees the collection of program data for use in assessment and analysis in order to evaluate the program and implement enhancements for short and long-term planning. Provides reports to funding agency and leadership staff.
  • Researches best practices and trends in order to enhance programs and services. Presents information to other programs and departments on campus, and other institutions as requested.
  • Writes and submits grant proposals for continuous funding. Seeks new funding opportunities.
  • Develops scholarship criteria, evaluates scholarship applications and selects scholarship cohort each academic year.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of web-based participant database, and learning modules for participants. Provides guidance and oversight to software developers.
  • Manages marketing, web site, and social media for the program and the department.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with diverse college students.
  • Experience in program development and implementation.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience grant writing.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
