General summary

Manages technology infrastructure for the division. Assists in providing leadership and direction for technology infrastructure. Interacts with all other University infrastructure units and assists with information technology initiatives related to governance and administration.

Major duties

  • Manages network infrastructure for including all aspects of network administration including but not limited to virtualization, storage, printing, data backup, volume licensing, and cybersecurity.
  • Provides support to divisional business unit enterprise applications by ensuring a secure and available infrastructure for running servers and services as well as overseeing the implementation and maintenance of third-party solutions.
  • Assists and provides advice during the development of cost-benefit analysis for short and long-term technology planning, capital purchases, and installation of new hardware and software systems for the division.
  • Oversees the process of budgeting, project planning, implementation, and maintenance of the computing hardware refresh cycle.
  • Maintains security compliance and maintains adherence to national standards for electronic healthcare transactions.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution, or a Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Experience managing and supporting multiple aspects of network and systems administration including but not limited to network support, virtualization, storage, printing, data backup, volume licensing, and cyber security.
  • Experience with short and long term planning processes, cost-benefit analysis and aligning capabilities with stakeholder needs.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
