General summary

Leads the University’s treasury functions and serves as the liaison for the University foundation’s investment programs. Serves as a member of relevant committees related to University investments with a special focus on retirement plans.

Major duties

  • Develops and implements financial management programs focused on the management of the University’s short, intermediate, and long-term investments.
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Monitors the balances of relevant financial accounts.
  • Serves as a liaison for the University foundation’s investment program. Facilitates investment decision process made by relevant committees such as the selection of investment managers, coordination of cash activity, and the execution of trades.
  • Maintains and administers the foundation’s endowment system and oversees the control process for endowments.
  • Oversees the debt funding programs for major construction projects. Monitors project accounts and responds appropriately to changes. Prepares and submits annual bond disclosure reports.
  • Analyzes finances and prepares reports to advise upper management. Presents to the board of trustees , and other relevant boards, committees, and departments.
  • Prepares and submits annual financial reports and statements as required for external audits.
  • Participates on the oversight committee for investments offered to University employees and retirees via the University’s defined contribution retirement plans.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • In-depth experience with cash management and investing.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with office software, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
