General summary

Performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks and is responsible for providing the highest level of customer service.

Major duties

  • Advises customers on Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) compliance and excellent service.
  • Offers office support for purchasing, payroll, and accounts payable tasks.
  • Monitors University sponsored payment plan enrollees. Ensures payments are made timely and account adjustments are appropriately reflected. Reviews and approves applications for enrollment in the Michigan National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program and employer deferred payment plans.
  • Completes account updates including posting charges, credits, processing the results of the Tuition Charge Appeal committee and residency changes.
  • Researches and updates student account addresses to ensure efficient communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Associate degree or two years' college coursework in a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience
  • Experience working in a financial services, accounting, or customer service orientated position.
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use professional judgment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to utilize positive interpersonal and customer service skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
