General summary

Provides clerical support for a unit or department at a senior level.

Major duties

  • Assists with office tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and handling inquiries.
  • Maintains office filing systems and ensures documents are organized and easily accessible.
  • Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and external parties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Manages calendars, schedules appointments and meetings.
  • Uses word-processing and spreadsheet software to produce and edit letters, memos, reports, statistical tables, and other documents.
  • Monitors and orders departmental supplies.
  • May make travel arrangements.
  • May train, hire, evaluate, and supervise student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Some college coursework from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Some relevant experience.
  • Office experience with word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
