Karen Schieman

Dr. Karen Shieman, professor at Western Michigan University, held the first Bronson School of Nursing/Bronson Health Systems academic-practice partnership dual appointment. Dr. Schieman has extensive clinical background in the areas of trauma, neuroscience, and substance use disorder nursing. Her research interests include trauma, brain injury, stroke, and substance use disorder. Dr. Schieman has an extensive publication and presentation list. Her teaching areas have included medical surgical, ethics, research, and RN to BSN program courses. As the RN to BSN program coordinator she has made curricular changes to improve the student experience and is actively involved in promoting and recruiting for the program.
