Joseph Milostan

Joe Milostan, originally from East Lansing, MI, has worked in the field of international education for over 15 years. Joe began his career in international education teaching English as a foreign language in Madrid, Spain for about 2 years. He then transitioned to working in the field of study abroad in 2008 at Western Michigan University where he served as an intern in the Study Abroad Office focusing on outreach initiatives. In 2009, Joe began working in the Education Abroad Office at Kansas State University, where he served as the Education Abroad Director from 2014 - 2021, and previously served as the Assistant Director and as an Education Abroad Advisor at KSU. Joe returned to the Study Abroad Office at WMU in January 2022 as the Director of Study Abroad and International Faculty Enrichment. 

 

Throughout his career in international education, Joe has been active with NAFSA and the Forum on Education Abroad serving in a variety of volunteer roles with both organizations.

 

Joe graduated from Michigan State University in 2003 with a BA in English, earned a Master of Arts from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont, with a focus on International Education, and completed coursework towards a Graduate Certificate in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University.

 

Joe is passionate about travel and engaging with different cultures. Joe's favorite part of travel is exploring local foods and considers himself an adventurous eater.  Australia and Poland are two of Joe's favorite travel destinations, as his wife (Cristina) is originally from Sydney, Australia, and his mom was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland.
