Bio:

Dr. Dave Watson is an assistant professor in the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University. He joined the Department of Accountancy in August 2024.

Dave is particularly interested in understanding and designing decision support systems that accountants and other professionals can use to improve their judgement and decision-making processes. He actively reviews at ABDC A-ranked journals (the Journal of Information Systems and International Journal of Accounting Information Systems) and has reviewed and presented at national and regional research conferences. Dave also helped develop and deliver an Entrepreneur Accounting Bootcamp in connection with the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in May 2025. 

Dave currently teaches Introduction to Managerial Accounting and Strategic Decision-making (ACTY 2110). Prior to coming to WMU, he taught Principles of Managerial Accounting and Accounting Information Systems at the University of South Florida. His previous work experience includes tax and auditing services in the entertainment industry, and accounting software implementation services. In his spare time, Dave avidly reads science fiction and fantasy literature and enjoys biking and other sports with his family.
