Programs and Services

It is the goal of WMU Adult Wellness Programs to provide our aging community with valuable, relevant programming for individuals whether they want to get healthy, stay fit, learn new skills, meet new friends, enhance quality of life or even participate in evidence based programs. WMU Adult Wellness Programs provides assistance for individuals through community based programming:

WMU Senior Day Services is an adult day program designed to serve individuals with cognitive or functional impairments that need special assistance or supervision during the day. Since 2001, we have offered organized daily activities in a community setting. Our approach to adult day programming is a combination of social interaction and rehabilitative activities that encourage using the individuals’ strengths to improve health.

The Ishler Wellness Lab, established in 2019, is a collaborative effort between WMU's Adult Wellness Programs and WMU faculty, staff and students as well as community members to expand clinical education foundations at WMU. The lab will serve as a space for students to strengthen practical, interprofessional skills while providing health and wellness activities and services for older adults in our community. Each semester, the Ishler Wellness Lab will offer activities, classes and special events to the community.

Mind Aerobics™is an evidence-based award winning program designed to provide older adults with comprehensive mental workouts that can maintain or improve cognitive functioning. These programs are developed to systematically stimulate six major cognitive domains of the brain, instead of focusing on only one or two cognitive skill areas like other programs.

Adult Wellness Programs offers non-medical In-home Care Services for individuals residing in Kalamazoo County. In-home care services are personalized depending on you or your loved ones specific needs and preferences. In-home care is designed to provide scheduled temporary relief in the home for the primary caregiver.
