Timothy Light Center for Chinese Studies Brown Bag Talk

Posted by Junliang Fei for Asian Initiatives

Join us for a Brown Bag Talk given by Dr. Li Yang, School of Environment, Geography and Sustainability, Western Michigan University.

Heritage tourism has grown globally over the past two decades, and the Chinese government often actively promotes historic towns for tourism purposes. Yet, there is a lack of understanding of the impacts of this development on historic sites and their residents. Dr. Li Yang surveyed residents of Yunnan, China, to assess the ways in which local livelihoods are affected by tourism development.

Topic: Tourism Development in a Historic Town in China
