WMU’s Black Faculty & Staff Council will host a special performance by Rootead Enrichment Center honoring Juneteenth on Friday, June 19. Sponsored by the Office of Education and Training and the King-Chávez-Parks (KCP) Visiting Professors Program, the event at 2:30 p.m. in the Multicultural Center of the Trimpe Building commemorates June 19, 1865—the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom. Now a federal holiday, Juneteenth symbolizes liberation, justice and the ongoing pursuit of equality. Join us to reflect, learn and celebrate the resilience, culture and contributions of Black communities while honoring this important moment in history.
