WMUK reporter wins regional journalism award

WMUK radio’s Sehvilla Mann was recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association with the 2020 regional Edward R. Murrow Award for the story, “Kalamazoo Plank Road Was a Boon to Travelers, but a Bumpy Road for Investors.” The story of the 19th century wooden toll road, which helped travelers get between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, was inspired by a question for WMUK’s monthly “Why’s That” segment. Winners of the RTDNA regional Murrow Awards automatically move to the national round for consideration.
