WMU Professional Development Institute: Building Cultural Competencies

The Offices of Institutional Equity in partnership with the Offices of Academic Affairs and Diversity and Inclusion will hold the second “WMU Professional Development Institute: Building Cultural Competencies, May 4 - May 7, 2021. This presidential initiative features a 3 ½ day curriculum infusing intercultural communication theories to teach and build cultural competencies. Professor of communication and diversity, Dr. Mark Orbe, will facilitate this "train-the-trainers" workshop to empower participants to effectively manage cross-cultural communication, implement equity, diversity and inclusion programming, and facilitate professional development opportunities in various contexts. Deadline to apply is February 22. Selected participants will be notified no later than March 8.
