Art show a success
Artists from the Creative Abilities Art Studio, part of the Center for Disability Services at Western Michigan University created and sold over $500 worth of hand-made artwork in March at the spring art sale in the College of Health and Human Services. Center participants—some verbal, some nonverbal—use art to communicate and make their unique mark on the world. Pieces sold were paintings, jewelry, glassware and painted tiles.
Since 2003, the Creative Abilities Art Studio in the Center for Disability Services at WMU has assisted adults with disabilities and afforded them the opportunity to create and sell their artwork during the Community Connections art therapy program.
Over the years, artists have featured their art at the College of Health and Human Services, area art shows and community festivals. All proceeds go directly back to the artists. To view more artwork for sale, visit their online store.
