Participants at WMU Center for Disability Service's Skill Building Program volunteer each week at Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes. Each Friday, two groups sort bulk vegetables into smaller, more manageable bags in the warehouse of the food pantry located on Portage St. in Kalamazoo. Participants are responsible for sorting bulk carrots, onions and potatoes. From there, the veggies will stock ten local food pantries in the county as well as mobile food distributions thirteen times per month.

"Sixty-five percent of the food in the warehouse is purchased, the rest is USDA product, food donations and from community support like food drives," said Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes Program Manager, Nadina Williams-Barrett.

CDS participants enjoy giving back to the community!
