We Talk Spring Keynote Presentation

Posted by Deanne Puca for We Talk

Join us for We Talk's Spring Keynote Presentation featuring U.S. Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland who will share how the cultural teaching of the Seven Grandfathers has guided his experience in public service and helped him engage across divides.

A citizen of the Bay Mills Indian Community (Ojibwe) in northern Michigan, Newland served as tribal president from 2017 to 2021. Prior to that, Newland served as chief judge of the Bay Mills Tribal Court. From 2009 to 2012, he served as a counselor and policy advisor to the assistant secretary of the Interior–Indian Affairs. He was sworn in as U.S. assistant secretary for Indian Affairs in September 2021.
