Master Plan

The mission of the Western Michigan University Facilities Management Geographic Information Systems area is to provide updated accurate geographic information on utility and landscape infrastructure and other University assets. The area provides data to the University and geographic information systems communities.

The Geographic Information Systems area offers opportunities for students to experience, participate and run geographic information systems projects to enhance their academic experience and learn real world skills that the geographic information systems industry demands.

This is done through use of in-house staff, a growing supportive relationship with WMU's Department of Geography and College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, as well as coordination with local, state, federal agencies and the private sector.
