Timed Appliances

Does your office have a common break room with a coffee maker or other appliances that are sometimes left on overnight? Consider installing an appliance timer to ensure that appliances are powered down when not in use or appoint someone to be responsible for turning off appliances at the end of the day.

Energy tip

If you do choose to install an appliance timer, make sure that the timer is large enough to accommodate the appliance. A lamp timer should not be used to control a coffee maker or window air conditioner.

If you have questions about what size timer you need for a specific appliance or need help finding out the power draw of a specific appliance, please file a Bronco Fix-It request with the Facilities Management Service Center. One of our Engineering staff members can help you select an adequate timer.
