Unplug Chargers

Did you know that the chargers for some electronic devices draw power even when they are not charging a device? While this is becoming less common with modern chargers, it is recommended to unplug charges when not in use.

Energy tip

While a charger that only draws one watt when not in use would only consume about $0.75 of electricity per year (if never unplugged), the savings can add up. If every staff, faculty and on-campus resident unplugged one charger while not in use, the savings could add up to over $5,000 per year.
