West Michigan Avenue Icon

Construction was completed in spring 2015 of the new sculpture and water feature located in front of the West Michigan Ave mall by Sangren Hall. A 17-foot tall bronze “Tree of Growth” rises out of the WMU seal set on a sloping granite base, encircled by reflecting pools and fountains.

The work was designed and constructed by local artist Joshua Diedrich, in conjunction with Kingscott Architects and Kalleward Construction. The bronze tree branches, leaves and seal components were cast individually and later assembled to create the final composition.
