Board of Certification Exam Passing Rate

Athletic training students who successfully complete the Western Michigan University athletic training program are eligible to sit for the Board of Certification examination.

Year by year

In accordance with CAATE Accreditation Standards, WMU’s three-year aggregate for first-time passing rate is 68%.

In 2017-18, 12 graduates of the WMU athletic training program were first time BOC exam candidates with 5 passing on the first attempt (42%). The number of students who passed the exam regardless of the number of attempts was 7/12 (58%).

In 2016-17, 12 graduates of the WMU athletic training program were first-time BOC exam candidates with 11 passing on the first attempt (92%). The number of students who passed the exam regardless of the number of attempts was 11/12 (92%).

In 2015-16, 10 graduates of the WMU athletic training program were first time BOC exam candidates with 7 passing on the first attempt (70%). The number of students who passed the exam regardless of the number of attempts was 8/10 (80%).

In 2014-15, 14 graduates of the WMU athletic training program were first time BOC exam candidates with 11 passing on the first attempt (79%). The number of students who passed the exam regardless of the number of attempts was 12/14 (86%).
