Wessam Abdelaziz is a doctoral candidate and a teaching assistant of Arabic in the Department of World Languages and Literatures at Western Michigan University.
Wessam was the recipient of the 2019 All-University Graduate Teaching Effectiveness and the 2017 Teaching Effectiveness award from the Department of World Languages and Literatures. In 2008, he received the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Scholarship to teach and study at the University of Connecticut.
His research interests focus on language assessment and psychometric, especially oral language proficiency assessment. His dissertation is investigating the dimensional characteristics of the Arabic oral proficiency and how this impacts Arabic teaching, curricular design, and assessment.
