Bio:

Dr. Justin Barney is an assistant professor with a joint position in the Classics section of the Department of World Languages and Literatures and in Philosophy

His research focuses on the intersection of philosophy and religion in the ancient Greek and Roman worlds. He writes on philosophical treatments of myth and religious cult, and works with other faculty on campus on issues surrounding the Herculaneum Papyri, a collection of philosophical texts preserved by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 CE.

Dr. Barney also enjoys fermentation, gardening, and swimming.
