Broncos land leadership positions following resume-worthy student experience
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western’s commitment to preparing learners for leadership and career success has led to national rankings and surveys touting student and graduate response. WMU’s programs and student experience have been acknowledged for equipping individuals with the skills needed for impactful careers and influential roles.
TIME has ranked WMU as one of the Best Colleges for Future Leaders, highlighting its
alumni among influential achievers across various industries and noting the Haworth
College of Business specifically. The University's focus on hands-on, experience-driven
learning and strong industry connections contributes to this success.
The ranking is recognition of the work that WMU is doing to prepare students to hit the
ground running in their chosen careers. Its emphasis on leadership and strategic
problem-solving is proving effective. Haworth offers specialized programs like leadership and business strategy, further enhancing students' readiness for leadership
roles.
Additionally, U.S. News & World Report placed the University among the top 100 in the
nation for its online bachelor’s programs, ranking it No. 96 overall and No. 52 for
veterans. This recognition reflects the quality of education and flexibility that WMU
provides to students looking to advance their careers. The programs are designed with
the latest instructional technologies and offer flexibility through recorded lectures and
other resources.
Western's online programs were among 1,800 surveyed by U.S. News & World Report
for the rankings. The publication assessed programs based on four categories:
engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials and training, and peer
assessment.
Moreover, WMU graduates are excelling in the workforce. According to the latest
Career Outcomes Report, 95% of graduates working full time have jobs related to their
degree. Notable employers in Michigan and beyond include health care providers like
Bronson Healthcare and global medical companies such as Stryker. The University's
commitment to student success is also evident, as 97% of students had instructors who
made them excited about learning.
The Post-graduation Activity Survey is distributed annually to all students graduating
from Western. By gathering data on topics such as employment, plans for continued
education and earnings as well as experiences that contributed to career readiness and
relationships forged on campus, the survey aims to measure and track graduate

Data was obtained for 2,859 graduates, or 73%, who earned degrees. Highlights of the report include:
- 94% of graduates are working or continuing their education.
- 97% of Broncos had instructors who made them excited about learning
- 92% of graduates working full time are satisfied with their job.
93% of graduates participated in experience-driven learning. - $60K-$70K is the median salary for recent graduates working full time.
- 9 of 10 Broncos are employed quickly, working in their field in jobs they like.
