KALAMAZOO--A summer study abroad program for WMU employees, recently renamed Language and Culture Experience in Mexico for Faculty and Staff, will be explained at an information session Wednesday, Jan. 18, at noon, in 2033 Brown Hall.

The two-week intensive language and cultural study abroad program is open to all WMU faculty members and benefits-eligible employees. It will take place June 29 to July 14 at the Universidad Autonoma de Queretaro.

To be eligible, applicants must complete Spanish 1010 or the equivalent language skills test by the end of the 2012 summer I session. Evening and lunch-hour sections of Spanish 1010 are offered during spring semester and the summer I session.

Those who qualify may take advantage of 12 grants of $1,750 each that are available to offset expenses. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Information session attendees will be able to meet with program alumni; Dr. Jane Blyth Warren, director of study abroad and global program development; and Dr. Irma Lopez, professor of Spanish.
