Nominations sought for Excellence in Diversity Awards

KALAMAZOO--Nominations are being accepted through Tuesday, Jan. 31, for Western Michigan University's Excellence in Diversity Awards.

The awards recognize the accomplishments of employees, students and groups that contribute to diversity and inclusion through exemplary leadership. The winners will be presented during an awards ceremony scheduled for April 11.

Members of the campus and local community are eligible to make nominations. Nominations should be based on demonstrated leadership in one or more of various goals referenced in the WMU Diversity and Multiculturalism Action Plan. Those nominated should represent outstanding, exceptional or extraordinary individuals and groups engaged in initiatives and innovations in such areas as teaching, research, programs and services.

Six Excellence in Diversity Awards will be given out, one in each of the following categories:

  • Staff members and administrators
  • Faculty members
  • Undergraduate students
  • Graduate students
  • Student organizations
  • University colleges and departments
