KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University faculty and staff are invited to the third annual Assessment in Action Day March 23 at the Fetzer Center. The conference is free of charge, but registration is required by Tuesday, March 20.

Dr. Marilee J. Bresciani, professor of postsecondary educational leadership at San Diego State University and noted authority on assessment, will present the keynote address, "What Learning Do We Value Within Our Institution?"

At San Diego State, Bresciani coordinates the certificate in institutional research, planning and assessment. She has spoken across the country and is a leading author of five books on assessing student learning and outcomes-based assessment program review and two books on self-inquiry and authenticity exploration.

Included in the conference offerings are seven different sessions on various assessment topics and a poster session to display the work of assessment fellows. The program also includes opportunities to find out more about the assessment resources at WMU.

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. March 23, the keynote address begins at 9 a.m., and programs continue through 3:30 p.m. Complimentary lunch is included.
