Student employee and supervisor of the year honored

KALAMAZOO--The winners of Western Michigan University's 2012 student and supervisor of the year awards were honored during a Feb. 23 reception in the Bernhard Center.

Sydney Small received the Gary L. Belleville Student Employee of the Year award. Small, a senior from Comins, Mich., is a library assistant in University Libraries' Special Collections Department. She is majoring in Spanish and German and minoring is Chinese. Small was nominated by her University Libraries supervisor, Neil Chase.

Lillard

Lt. Jeffrey Lillard received the Supervisor of the Year award. Lillard is an officer in the Department of Public Safety's Police Division. Lillard was nominated by his student employee, Brendon Ferrell, whom he has supervised for the past two years.

Sixty-two student employees and 25 supervisors were nominated for the two campuswide awards this year. The awards are bestowed in conjunction with the annual Student Employee Appreciation Week, sponsored by Career and Student Employment Services. The 2012 observance, WMU's 26th, was Feb. 20-24.
