Symphony orchestra performs classical and popular love songs

KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

The concert, titled Love is in the Air, will feature both classical and popular symphonic music with the theme of love. Classical works will include the overture to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera, "The Marriage of Figaro," the wedding march from Felix Mendelssohn's "Midsummer Night's Dream," and Elsa's processional to the cathedral from Richard Wagner's opera "Lohengrin." Popular tunes will feature songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein's immortal Broadway production of "The King and I," music from the epic film "Titanic," and the love songs of popular songwriter Billy Joel.
