Film is tribute to choreographer Pina Bausch
KALAMAZOO--The Kalamazoo Film Society will present the documentary film "Pina" Friday through Sunday, April 13-15, at Western Michigan University's Little Theatre.
Show times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30, 5 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5.
"Pina" is Wim Wender's film tribute to the legendary German choreographer Pina Bausch (1940-2009). Wender takes the audience on a sensual, visually stunning journey of artistic discovery, as he follows Bausch and her dancers from the stage of the Tanztheater Wuppertal into the city and areas surrounding Wuppertal, which for 35 years were home to Bausch and the hub of her creativity.
Starring Bausch, Regina Advento, Ruth Amarante and Jorge Puerta, "Pina" is rated PG for some sensuality, partial nudity and smoking. Released in February 2011, the film has a run time of 103 minutes and is shown mostly in German with English subtitles.
