Damali Ayo addresses improving community race relations

KALAMAZOO--Author and artist Damali Ayo will present "You Can Fix Racism" at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, in the Bernhard Center Ballroom at Western Michigan University.

Ayo's presentation will provide a fun, multi-media, interactive experience, presenting a 10-point program for improving relationships in any community. In her talks, she uses satire, humor and her award-winning art, and offers practical tools for change.

A reception with Ayo will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the Oaklands, across the street from the Bernhard Center. The reception is also free, but reservations are required and may be made by writing to @email.

The event is open to the public free of charge and is sponsored by the Peace Center, a WMU registered student organization.

Born in Washington, D.C., Ayo received a bachelor's degree in public policy and American civilization from Brown University. She went on to earn an MFA in studio art from Portland State University.
