Gerald H. 'Gib' Youngblood obituary

Gerald H. "Gib" Youngblood, a retired Western Michigan University baker for almost 27 years, died May 3. He was 89.

Youngblood, of Kalamazoo, joined the WMU Bernhard Center Dining Services staff in 1957 and retired as head baker in 1984. While at the University, he helped start the Student Center Bakery.

A lifelong resident of the area, he served in the U.S. Army-Amphibian Unit during World War II.

Services were held May 7, and burial followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Memorial donations may be made to Rose Arbor Hospice/ Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Visit langelands.com for online obituary, directions, register book and condolences.
